Brittany's Regency Dress

My daughter Brittany made this Regency dress for our Etsy store.  This project not only entailed choosing fabric and sewing, she was to find the best way to photograph and market her finished treasure.

Her younger sister volunteered to model the dress.

Sufficiency of Scripture Conference

Ten more days and our family will be in Kentucky for the Sufficiency of Scripture Conference.

"The Sufficiency of Scripture." Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to a wide variety of messages calling our generation to live "by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." ...

We believe that the doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture is the most important doctrinal battleground in the Church today with the purity of the Church, the supremacy of the gospel, the biblical family, and the survival of Christian civilization hanging in the balance. Known as “Sola Scriptura” during the reformation, this doctrine teaches that Scripture is fully adequate in both content and clarity for “everything pertaining to life (salvation) and godliness (sanctification)” including the ordering of nations, churches, and families (2 Pet. 1:3-4; 2 Tim. 3:16-17). The Church’s desertion of this doctrine in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries resulted in the defilement of nearly every aspect of America, the church, and the home through multiple waves of pragmatic, worldly ideas.
How do you know the health of a nation? Look to the church. How do you know the health of the church? Look to the families in the church. How do you know the health of the family? Look to the vision of the fathers. Look to the relationships between husbands and wives. Look to the spirit of the children. The supremacy of Christ in the home, epitomized by the application of the sufficiency of Scripture, greatly affects the supremacy of Christ in the Church, and the supremacy of Christ in the Church greatly affects the supremacy of Christ in the nation.

God's Word

“It is better to be without bread in your houses than without Bibles, for the words of God’s mouth are and should be to you more than your necessary food.  But what will it avail you to have Bibles in your houses, if you do not use them?  To have the great things of God’s law and gospel written to you, if you count them as a strange thing?  You look daily into your shop-books, and perhaps converse much with the news books, and shall your Bibles be thrown by as an almanac out of date?
~
Matthew Henry
1662-1714

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

Thy word is a lamp to my feet,
and a light to my path.

Father and Son Working Together

Barn Red Chicken Coop, one of Luke's projects he just finished.  Go to his blog to see more pictures.

One of the many blessings we have received since moving to Tennessee is that my husband and son have been able to work together.  Not only does Steve have more opportunities to teach him carpentry/business skills but their time together has been one of bonding and discipleship in the Lord.  This puts more meaning to Deuteronomy 6:4-7

"Hear, O Israel!  The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!  And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.  And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

The two of them have opportunity for deep conversation during their drive to the job site.  Luke is then able to do his school work for a few hours, and then off to work on a project with or supervised by Steve.  Of course the drive home is probably more of that rich time of discussion.

During this Thanksgiving Season, I must say I'm thankful for the time the Lord is giving Steve and Luke to have together.  My prayer is for Luke to continue this vision my husband has for the family.

Here are some resources from Vision Forum that the Lord has used to disciple our family:

Have a great Thanksgiving weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving

O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with Psalms.
For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods, in whose hand are the depths of the earth; the peaks of the mountains are His also.
The sea is His, for it was He who made it; and His hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.

Preparing For Thanksgiving

If our lives are too stressed, it is hard to be patient, and we tend to be less peaceful.  If people have not been listened to, they will not feel patient or loved.

For The Family’s Sake
Susan Schaeffer Macaulay

When I think about preparing for Thanksgiving, what comes to mind are these questions;
With whom will we spend that special day?
The menu, planning and shopping for ingredients, table settings and table arrangements… how will that all work out?
However, one item of importance that I always forget to include in my plan is how to do this and still keep my household peaceful.  How do I not let the preparations of the day get in the way of loving my family?  Is what I am doing glorifying God?
A stressful mother/daughter during the holidays is a recipe for …
What do you think the answer is?
I would love to hear your comments on this subject.

“Thine, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Thine is the dominion, O Lord and Thou dost exalt Thyself as head over all.
Both riches and honor come from Thee, and Thou dost rule over all, and in Thy hand is power and might; and it lies in Thy hand to make great, and to strengthen everyone.
