but the builder of all things is God.

Independence Day 2009

This year we spent Independence Day at the West Ladies' homestead for the first part of the day and then headed over to the Burton's house for the second part. The earlier part was filled with a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a recitation of Patrick Henry's speech, a reading of the constitution and singing The Star-Spangled Banner. Then hamburgers, roasted potatoes, sweet tea and homemade icecream were waiting for us at the Burton's.
We ended our day at the Burton's for some great fellowship. They are one of the first families we met here in Tennessee. They welcomed us with open arms and waffles with homemade blueberry syrup. We arrived in Tennessee in our moving truck on a Friday, July 25th and the Monday after, we were picking blueberries with this precious family. I can't begin to tell you how they have been a blessing to us.

We first headed to the West Homestead

Vicki was so kind and welcoming to our family when we first moved to Tennessee. She is very special to us.

Hi, Christa! I just found your blog and have enjoyed looking around. I am going to try your laundry soap recipe sometime. I have been encouraged by your posts. It seems God has taken our families on similar journeys in revealing the truth about Himself. Blessings to your family!
